INTRODUCTION
French expressions about cold.
Here are some French expressions related to cold.
“Il fait un froid de canard”
– It’s freezing cold. (Literally, “It’s a duck’s cold,” referring to a very cold, biting wind.)
“Avoir les dents qui chatouillent”
– To have your teeth chattering. (A playful way to describe the physical reaction to cold.)
“Être gelé(e)”
– To be frozen or extremely cold. (Can be used for both people and things that are very cold.)
“Avoir la chair de poule”
– To have goosebumps. (Literally “to have chicken skin.”)
