HOW TO SELECT YOUR LEVEL IN SELF-PACED FRENCH SECOND LANGUAGE TRAINING ONLINE BEFORE TAKING A COURSE?
Selecting your level in self-paced French language training online is an important step to ensure you get the most out of the course. Here are some tips to help you determine your proficiency level:
1. Take a Placement Test: Many online platforms offer placement tests to assess your current level. These tests typically include grammar, vocabulary, listening, and reading comprehension sections. Our platform does not offer placement test yet.
2. Review Common Frameworks: Familiarize yourself with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels: A1 (beginner) to C2 (proficient). This can help you understand where you might fit.
3. Self-Assessment: Reflect on your language skills:
o Listening: Can you understand basic conversations?
o Speaking: Can you introduce yourself and talk about simple topics?
o Reading: Can you read and understand short texts?
o Writing: Can you write simple sentences?
4. Consult Course Descriptions: Look at the descriptions of the courses you’re considering. They often specify the prerequisites for each level.
5. Trial Lessons: Some platforms offer trial lessons or modules. Try a few to see which level feels most comfortable yet challenging. Our platform does not offer trial lessons yet.
6. Seek Feedback: If you’ve studied French before, consider asking a teacher or fluent speaker for their assessment of your skills.
7. Set Goals: Think about what you want to achieve. If you’re starting fresh, beginner courses, Micro 1 to Micro 5, might be best, while someone with basic knowledge might start at Micro 7 to Micro 12. For the advanced level Micro 13 to Micro 24 might meet your needs in French language learning.
8. Our French Language Programme is divided into 2 parts. First part is called Beginner-intermediate French course which includes 12 lessons. The second part is called Advanced French course and includes 12 lessons. In both parts, courses can be taken individually or as a group of courses that corresponds to a level of proficiency. For course enrollment, it is recommended to start with the lowest level course and build on progressively. It is important to understand that Micro 1 is the easiest course at the lowest level and Micro 24 is the most difficult course at the highest level of our programme.
By following these steps, you can choose the right level and maximize your learning experience!
